How We Build a Website
From Brief to Launch
Every project we take on runs through the same four weeks. No shortcuts, no guesswork. Here is what actually happens between the first phone call and the day your site goes live.
THE BUILD, WEEK BY WEEK
Discovery
Before anyone opens a design tool, we sit down with you. We ask what the business actually needs the website to do, who it needs to talk to, and what has been going wrong with your online presence so far, if anything exists at all.
This is also where we look at what your competitors are doing, pull together reference sites, and agree on the structure of the site: how many pages, what goes on each one, and what the visitor should do when they land there.
Output: A written brief and sitemap both sides sign off on before design starts.
Design
We start with wireframes, plain layouts with no color or styling, so the structure of each page can be agreed on before anything looks finished. Once that’s approved, we move into the actual visual design: colors, type, imagery, and layout that reflect your brand rather than a generic template.
You get to see and react to the design before a single line of code is written. Most projects go through one to two rounds of feedback here, kept tight so the build can start on schedule.
Output: A full visual design of every page, approved by you.
Engineering
This is where the approved design becomes an actual working website. We build it to be responsive from the start, meaning it works properly on a phone, a tablet, and a desktop, not just on the screen it was designed on.
Depending on what the brief calls for, this stage also covers anything the site needs to actually run: contact forms, booking systems, payment integration, or a content management system so you can update the site yourself later. This is the longest stage in the process because it’s where most of the actual work happens.
Output: A working version of the site on a private testing link, not yet public.
Quality Assurance
Before anything goes live, we test it properly. Every page, every form, every button, across different browsers and devices. We check load speed, broken links, spelling errors, and anything that could make a visitor leave before they trust you.
This stage exists because a site that looks right on one screen can still be broken on another. We would rather catch that now than have your customers find it for you.
Output: A tested, working site ready for launch.
Deployment
We move the site from the testing link to your actual domain, set up hosting, and confirm everything works exactly as it did in testing. If the site includes a system you’ll be updating yourself, we walk you through how to use it.
Once you’re live, we don’t disappear. Every project includes 30 days of support after launch to catch anything that comes up once real visitors start using the site.
Output: Your website, live, on your domain, with you knowing how to run it.
This is the same process for every client, whether it’s a school, a hotel, a hospital, a church, or a small business getting online for the first time. Four weeks, five phases, nothing skipped.
